Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about preparing for your oral board with Panel Ready.
About the Product
What is this, exactly?
It's a mock interview tool for fire service candidates. You practice realistic oral board interviews — answered out loud, like the real thing — and get instant, specific feedback and a score on every answer. It's built to prepare you for entry-level firefighter interviews.
How is this different from using ChatGPT or another AI interview app?
Generic AI gives you polished, generic interview advice. This is built on the real experience of working firefighters, engineers, captains, and chiefs who have sat on hundreds of oral boards — the people who actually score candidates. The feedback comes instantly through AI, but the judgment behind it comes straight from the fire service. It knows the unwritten rules panels actually score on, which generic tools don't.
Will this guarantee I get hired?
No tool can promise that — anyone who claims otherwise isn't being straight with you. What this does is prepare you the way a mentor on the inside would: realistic practice, honest feedback, and a clear sense of how panels think, so you walk in far more ready than you would otherwise.
Is this affiliated with any fire department or testing company?
No. It's an independent preparation tool. It uses representative, realistic questions and scenarios built from real panel experience — never actual confidential exam content from any department.
How It Works
How does the practice actually work?
You choose your position and target department, then step into a mock interview. You answer questions out loud, and the panel responds and scores you. You can choose Practice Mode (feedback after each answer so you can improve as you go) or Real Interview Mode (a straight-through simulation with full feedback at the end).
Do I type or speak my answers?
You speak them — oral boards are spoken, so you practice the way you'll actually perform. Your spoken answer is transcribed so the panel can respond to it.
Why does my target department matter?
The strongest candidates tie their answers to the specific department's values and priorities. When you enter your target department, the practice helps you weave that in naturally — one of the biggest things that separates a strong answer from an average one.
Does it track my progress?
Yes. Your interviews save to your account, so you can see your scores improve over time, revisit the feedback from any past round, and follow a personalized roadmap of what to focus on before your next interview.
What positions does it cover?
It focuses specifically on entry-level firefighter oral boards. Ambulance operator and promotional interviews — engineer, captain, chief — are planned.
Account & Subscription
Do I need an account?
Yes — your account is what saves your interviews, tracks your progress, and personalizes your preparation. Your history is private to you.
How much does it cost?
Pricing details will be announced soon.
What's the difference between monthly and annual?
Monthly gives you flexibility; annual costs less overall — the best value if you're preparing across a full testing cycle or for more than one department.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. You can cancel from your account settings at any time. When you cancel, you won't be charged again, and you'll keep full access through the end of the period you've already paid for.
What's your refund policy?
For monthly plans, we don't offer refunds on the current month, but you can cancel anytime to stop future charges and keep access through the end of that month. For annual plans, you can request a full refund within 7 days of purchase if it's not the right fit (provided you haven't used the service extensively in that time); after 7 days, the annual plan is non-refundable, but you can cancel anytime to stop it from renewing and keep access through the end of your paid term.
What if I was charged by mistake or had a technical problem?
Just reach out to us at support@panelready.ai. If you were billed in error or a technical issue kept you from using the service, we review those individually and will make it right.
Why can't I just share one account with my study group?
You can technically, but it works against you. Your account is built around YOUR progress — your scores over time, your personal roadmap, your saved history. Mixing several people's interviews into one account scrambles all of that and makes the tracking useless. The real value comes from following your own progression, which means having your own account.
Privacy & Practical
Is my information private?
Your interviews and history are private to your account.
What do I need to use it?
Just a phone or laptop with a microphone and internet connection. You practice on your own schedule, wherever you are.
The transcription got a word wrong — does that hurt my score?
No. The feedback focuses on the substance of your answers, not on transcription quirks. As voice accuracy improves in future versions, this gets even better.
